Search engines are computer programs that literally search for the inquiries of the user. The user will key in specific words about his or her topic in mind and the search engine will present a list of websites and/or documents for the user to choose from.  Undoubtedly, three of the most used and popular search engines are Google, Yahoo and MSN. These three provide users the most extensive and the newest results you can ever wish for. The list of best search engines differs time and time again and interestingly, the list also changes from one search engine to another.

1.       Google

As of August 2008, surveys show that approximately 71% of internet users trust Google to do the research for them. Larry Page and Sergey Brinn built and created Google Search in 1997 and since then Google strongly climbed the ladder of the most used and well-liked list of search engines over the net. 

2.       Yahoo

Yahoo is considered as the ultimate competitor of Google Search in the quest of the very best search engines in the World Wide Web. Yahoo is one of the free search engines that offer massive documents and files ranging from music to shopping lists.

3.       Live Search (formerly known as Windows Live Search)

MSN Live Search is part of the Microsoft Network. The Live Search is accessible through MSN’s official site and Live.com from Microsoft. One of the best advantages of Live Search is its ability to save everything you search and will also give you an automated update.

4.       AOL

AOL is a search engine operated by Time Warner and powered by Google. The main attraction of this search engine is its online software suite.
